Intense E-Maxx owners, take note...
Bomb-Proof Products has the chassis for you. If you are very serious about putting some extreme power to the terrain, the Torpedo chassis can do it. Originally designed to harness the awesome power of brushless motor power plants, the Torpedo chassis has also added some other goodies along the way. Since running huge amounts of power usually results in uncontrollable wheelies in the E-Maxx, the chassis system sports about 2 inches of added length to help keep the front tires on the ground. With this added length, you get tons of mounting possibilities for electronics, options, and additional battery cells. That's a huge plus for this chassis! Included with the chassis kit, you'll also get a pair of super strong aluminum extended chassis braces and all the hardened screws you'll need for assembly and mounting. The kit also includes 2 pairs of battery "cups" that allow quite a bit of versatility for perfecting the weight distribution and cell-count of your application. The instructions are straight-forward and easy to understand. Optional equipment includes a very customized and highly polished transmission skid plate and mirror-like aluminum front and rear strengthening braces. You can also custom-order a pair of Velcro straps for your battery packs if you so desire. Other optional components are 2 choices of rear drive shaft. Since nobody makes a drive shaft this long, an MIP CVD kit has the right length and is strong enough to handle just about anything you give it. If you want beyond extreme, a break-proof drive shaft has been custom machined for us by www.rcalloys.com, which is available directly through Bomb-Proof Products. You will also need an antenna mount which is also available by request. The chassis kit does add some additional weight, but that is to be expected with the added girth of the braces and the super-strong clear lexan plate. However, keep in mind that this is all "sprung" weight which, when powered correctly, is far less detrimental to racing performance than "un-sprung" weight (wheels, tires, knuckles, etc.), so it's actually possible with the right power-plant that this weight improves traction and control. Arial stability is one of the many positive side-effects this chassis gives you. With the added length, the truck is far easier to keep level in the air than with short chassis designs. This is a particular benefit on medium to large size race tracks with long and high jumps! You may actually gain the edge in track scenarios like this, for the stability factor alone. I found that the included battery cups do not allow some of my side-by-side battery packs to fit, so I went for the Velcro straps which work nicely. I dig the way the chassis plate sits up high so all components are tucked nicely under the truck body with common mounting height, maintaining and actually adding to the big, mean monster truck look. Speaking of looks, the chassis makes the truck so much longer that the standard tires may look a little small. Just for fun, I mated a set of larger tires to the system and voila, crazy 8th scale hugeness. Nice. I also can't get over the coolness factor of the smoked clear lexan plate. Nobody else does this for the E-Maxx, and chances are your local hobby shop (LHS) has never seen it either. Bring it by to watch some jaws drop when they see it... no kidding! Before I forget... since the chassis does extend the truck's length so much, you absolutely WILL have to drill different body mount holes so it will fit on the new post positions. A warning: Do not use any chemicals near or on the chassis. WD-40, motor cleaner, nitro fuel, paint thinner, and other products can react with the lexan making it brittle and breakable. Otherwise, it's literally bullet-proof. Contact the folks at Bomb-Proof Products for details on a specific chemical and how it reacts. The chassis plate, as mentioned above, allows many choices for mounting your gear. Since it's flat and big, there is no standard speed controller or battery or receiver positioning. Whatever works best for you is the way to go. This Bomb-Proof chassis is one of the coolest new products of the E-Maxx hop-up stuff out there. Check it out at www.bomb-proofproducts.com . You can order by emailing them via the link on the site. Have fun!
